PBS Documentary and Multimedia Outreach Project Seeks Editing & New Media Interns

Harlem USA – March, 2010: Award winning filmmaker, Thomas Allen Harris, (12 Disciples of Nelson Mandela, E Minha Cara/That’s My Face) is in production with the innovative interactive project, DIGITAL DIASPORA FAMILY REUNION, which is a national multimedia community engagement initiative that empowers individuals and families across North America to create new photos, unearth old photos, and share images documenting themselves and their neighborhoods.

DIGITAL DIASPORA FAMILY REUNION is an exciting new convergence of cutting edge Interactive Technology with high caliber production for a PBS feature documentary. Harris and his team seek Multimedia and Editing Interns that are enthusiastic, focused, and good-humored professionals who will be full members of the production team. During a minimum three (3) month internship, students and aspiring filmmakers, will work in a lively and creative production office loft space in Harlem. Interns will participate in both individual and group projects within one or more of our production departments including;

MULTIMEDIA:

Create and collect content for website and multi-platform projects; update & moderate Social Media sites; assist with production of photos, videos, slideshows, and podcasts; edit, format, and compress media for interactive platforms; and perform general multimedia production office duties as needed.

EDITING:

Log and digitize footage; edit footage into Multimedia Modules to be posted on Website and Social Media sites; timecode interview transcripts; prepare compilations and sample reels; edit, format, and compress media for interactive platforms; and perform general multimedia production office duties as needed.

RESEARCH:

Conduct internet and library research; assist team with online multimedia marketing; act as liaison with arts, community, and technology partners; support research team with scanning, digitizing, and cataloging archival media; and perform general multimedia production office duties as needed.
